Annotation: IN THIS FILM STRIP AND AUDIOCASSETTE DESIGNED FOR VIEWING BY TEENAGERS, A TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF A POLICE OFFICER IS DEPICTED TO ILLUSTRATE THE POLICE ROLE AND ACCOMPANYING RESPONSIBILITIES AND PROBLEMS.
Abstract: THE OFFICER'S DAY CONSISTS OF ASSISTING AT THE SCENE OF AN AUTO ACCIDENT, INVESTIGATING A REPORT OF A PROWLER, CATCHING A ROBBERY SUSPECT, WARNING TEENAGE CURFEW VIOLATORS, GETTING A SEARCH WARRANT TO SEARCH FOR SUSPECTED STOLEN DRUGS, AND AN OFF-DUTY CONFRONTATION. ALL OF THESE ACTIVITIES INVOLVE THE POLICE OFFICER USING GOOD JUDGMENT AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAW TO MAINTAIN ORDER AND SAFETY IN THE COMMUNITY. BESIDES ILLUSTRATING THE GOOD USE OF JUDGMENT ON THE PART OF THE STREET OFFICER, THE FILMSTRIP EXPLAINS WHAT A SEARCH WARRANT IS AND WHY IT IS NEEDED, AND DISCUSSES MIRANDA RULINGS AND HOW THEY HAVE AFFECTED LAW ENFORCEMENT.
