Annotation: THE COBRAY INTERNATIONAL, INC., SCHOOL IN POWDER SPRINGS, GEORGIA, IS DESCRIBED AS BEING BOTH A SCHOOL FOR KILLERS AND A SCHOOL FOR SURVIVAL SUITED FOR PERSONS WHO MUST WORK UNDER THE THREAT OF TERRORIST ATTACK.
Abstract: TO EQUIP STUDENTS WITH A KNOWLEDGE OF MARTIAL ARTS, SMALL ARMS, PERSONAL DEFENSE WEAPONS AND TECHNIQUES, AND TO PROMOTE EFFICIENCY IN THE USE OF ARMS AND ENABLE PERSONS TO ENGAGE AND DEFEAT ATTACKERS, THE COBRAY SCHOOL PROVIDES A 50 1/2-HOUR COURSE OF CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION AND COMBAT TRAINING. COBRAY ALSO PROVIDES TRAINING FOR GROUPS OF PERSONS INTERESTED IN PERSONAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS. SEVERAL PHYSICIANS, BODYGUARDS, AND BUSINESS EXECUTIVES HAVE TAKEN THE COURSE UNDER THE INSTRUCTION OF RETIRED MILITARY PERSONNEL, LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, AND A DETECTIVE. THE ORIGINAL COURSE OF STUDY OFFERED CONSISTS OF REVOLVER MARKSMANSHIP PISTOL MARKSMANSHIP, MARTIAL ARTS, COUNTERTERRORIST PROCEDURES, USE OF RIFLE WITH TELESCOPIC SIGHTS, SITUATION AWARENESS, PHOTOGRAPHY, ELECTRONIC COUNTERMEASURES, AND USE OF UNCONVENTIONAL WEAPONS. SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION IS AVAILABLE IN EVASIVE DRIVING, SNIPER RIFLE SHOOTING, HOSTAGE NEGOTIATION, FIRST AID, AND CONVOY PROCEDURE. STUDENTS ARE USUALLY REQUIRED TO BE LIFE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION, MILITARY PERSONNEL, OR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. A NOTARIZED STATEMENT OF A STUDENT'S GOOD CHARACTER FROM A SENIOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OR MAGISTRATE IS ALSO REQUIRED. THE FOUNDER OF COBRAY IS AN EXPERIENCED MERCENARY AND WEAPONS INVENTOR, AND THE ACTING PRESIDENT OF THE SCHOOL SERVED AS DEPUTY COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE UNCONVENTIONAL WARFARE TASK FORCE IN EUROPE.
