Abstract: CRIME INDEX OFFENSES ARE INCLUDED AMONG THE PART I OFFENSES, AND POLICE REPORT OFFENSE AND ARREST INFORMATION FOR THESE OFFENSES ON A MONTHLY BASIS; ONLY ARREST INFORMATION IS REPORTED FOR PART II OFFENSES. PART I OFFENSES ARE (1) CRIMINAL HOMICIDE--MURDER AND NON-NEGLIGENT MANSLAUGHTER; (2) FORCIBLE RAPE--THE CARNAL KNOWLEDGE OF A FEMALE FORCIBLY AND AGAINST HER WILL, INCLUDING RAPE BY FORCE AND ATTEMPTS OR ASSAULTS TO RAPE (EXCLUDING STATUTORY OFFENSES); (3) ROBBERY--STEALING OR TAKING ANYTHING OF VALUE FROM THE CARE, CUSTODY, OR CONTROL OF A PERSON BY FORCE OR VIOLENCE, OR THREAT OF FORCE; (4) AGGRAVATED ASSAULT--ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO KILL OR FOR THE PURPOSE OF INFLICTING SEVERE BODILY INJURY BY SHOOTING, CUTTING, STABBING, MAIMING, POISONING, SCALDING, OR BY THE USE OF ACIDS, EXPLOSIVES, OR OTHER MEANS; (5) BURGLARY--HOUSEBREAKING OR ANY BREAKING OR UNLAWFUL ENTRY OF A STRUCTURE WITH THE INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY OR THEFT; (6) LARCENY-THEFT (EXCEPT MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT)--THE UNLAWFUL TAKING, CARRYING, LEADING, OR RIDING AWAY OF PROPERTY FROM THE POSSESSION OR CONSTRUCTIVE POSSESSION OF ANOTHER; AND (7) MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT--UNLAWFUL TAKING OR ATTEMPTED THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE. PART II OFFENSES ARE SIMPLE ASSAULTS, ARSON, FORGERY AND COUNTERFEITING, FRAUD, EMBEZZLEMENT, STOLEN PROPERTY (BUYING, RECEIVING, POSSESSING), VANDALISM, WEAPONS (CARRYING, POSSESSING, ETC.), PROSTITUTION AND COMMERCIALIZED VICE, SEX OFFENSES, DRUG ABUSE VIOLATIONS, GAMBLING, OFFENSES AGAINST THE FAMILY AND CHILDREN, DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE, LIQUOR LAW VIOLATIONS, DRUNKENNESS, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, VAGRANCY, ALL OTHER VIOLATIONS OF STATE OR LOCAL LAWS (EXCEPT TRAFFIC OFFENSES), CURFEW AND LOITERING LAWS, AND RUNAWAY.
