Annotation: THIS BOOK CONSISTS LARGELY OF PAPERS EXAMINING THE PALESTINIAN PROBLEM, THE NATURE OF THE PALESTINIAN ARAB MOVEMENT, AND THE OPINIONS OF BOTH ISRAELI JEWS AND DISPLACED PALESTINIANS REGARDING FUTURE PALESTINE STATES.
Abstract: A HISTORICAL OVERVIEW OF PALESTINE IN THE ISLAMIC AND OTTOMAN PERIOD TO DESCRIBE THE PERIODS OF PALESTINIAN LAND OWNERSHIP (1880-1948), ARAB IMMIGRATION INTO PRE-STATE ISRAEL (1922-1931), AND ARAB-JEWISH CONTACTS IN PALESTINE (1923-1931). THE IDENTITIES OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE AND PALESTINE, THE MIDDLE EAST REFUGEES AND THE PALESTINE ARABS ARE EXPLORED, AND SOCIAL AND POLITICAL CHANGES IN ARAB SOCIETY IN ISRAEL AND WEST BANK SENTIMENTS (1967-1973) ARE INVESTIGATED. FURTHER TOPICS INCLUDE THE POLITICAL AND SOCIAL ASPECTS OF ISRAELI AND ARAB NATIONALISM, DIFFERENT KINDS OF PALESTINIAN NATIONALISM, THE PALESTINIAN-ARAB NATIONALIST MOVEMENT, AND THE LEADERSHIP OF YASSER ARAFAT. PALESTINIAN ORGANIZATIONS, LEADERS, AND IDEOLOGIES ARE IDENTIFIED. ARTICLES EXAMINE THE DEMOCRATIC STATE, THE PALESTINIAN NATIONAL COVENANT, THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE PALESTINIANS, THE POSITION OF PALESTINIAN ORGANIZATIONS ON PEACE, AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PALESTINIAN STATE. ISRAELI VIEWS ON THE PALESTINIAN PROBLEM, IDENTIFY, STATE, AND NATIONALISM ARE REPRESENTED IN SEVERAL ARTICLES. FINALLY, THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MOSCOW AND THE PALESTINIANS IS DISCUSSED. APPENDIXES INCLUDE MAPS, LISTINGS OF PALESTINIAN ARAB TERRORIST ACTS FROM 1968 TO 1974, THE PALESTINE POLITICAL PROGRAM OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL, AND A SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY.
