Abstract: THE MANUAL IS AIMED AT ASSISTING CLASSIFICATION ANALYSTS, CORRECTION COUNSELORS, EDUCATION COUNSELORS, INSTRUCTORS, PAROLE STAFF, AND INMATES IN UNDERSTANDING THE RANGE OF VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS BEING OFFERED IN NEW YORK CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS. RELEVANT OCCUPATIONAL TASK BREAKDOWNS HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED IN 21 OF 39 VOCATIONAL TRADES TAUGHT IN THE CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES. THESE HAVE BEEN COMBINED IN RELATED UNITS CALLED MODULES TO FORM THE GENERAL OUTLINE OR STANDARDIZED CURRICULUM OF A COURSE. MODULARIZED CURRICULA ENABLE STUDENTS TRANSFERRED FROM ONE FACILITY TO ANOTHER TO CONTINUE THEIR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION WITHOUT INTERRUPTION. FOR EACH VOCATIONAL PROGRAM LISTED IN THE MANUAL, THERE IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE CONTENT, A LIST OF FACILITIES WHERE THE COURSE IS TAUGHT, JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR WHICH THE COURSE PREPARES STUDENTS, ANY REQUIREMENTS FOR COURSE PARTICIPATION, AND ANY CERTIFICATES ISSUED. COURSES ARE PRESENTED UNDER THE GENERAL CATEGORIES OF MACHINE AND METALS, HUMAN SERVICES, AUTOMOTIVE, REPAIR SERVICES, GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS, BUILDING TRADES, BUILDING AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE, NEEDLE TRADES, BUSINESS ARTS, EXPLORATORY (PREVOCATIONAL), AND EDUCATIONAL RELEASE (CLOSED CIRCUIT TV).
