Annotation: THIS DIRECTORY IDENTIFIES EVERY ORGANIZATION IN INDIANA THAT DELIVERS SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18.
Abstract: THE DIRECTORY INCLUDES NEARLY 2400 FACILITIES AND BASIC PROGRAM DATA FROM EACH AGENCY. IT CAN BE USED AS A REFERRAL INFORMATION SOURCE BY JUDGES WITH JUVENILE JURISDICTION, PROBATION OFFICERS, WELFARE WORKERS, AND OTHERS WHO IN THE COURSE OF THEIR WORK NEED TO LOCATE SUITABLE TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION PROGRAMS FOR JUVENILES. THE DATA OFFER VALUABLE PLANNING TOOLS TO THOSE WHO ARE ATTEMPTING TO DEVELOP A STRATEGY FOR THE DELIVERY OF SERVICES TO YOUTH AND/OR BETTER EXISTING SERVICES. EACH OF THE AGENCIES LISTED CAN BE CONTACTED THROUGH THE DIRECTORY FOR MORE INFORMATION. AGENCIES WERE INCLUDED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: (1) THE AGENCY PROVIDES A DIRECT SERVICE TO YOUTH; (2) THE AGENCY EMPLOYS SOME PAID STAFF; AND (3) SOME OF THE DIRECT SERVICES INCLUDE PREVENTION/REHABILITATION SOCIAL SERVICES. EXAMPLES OF AGENCIES EXCLUDED FOR PRAGMATIC OR CONCEPTUAL REASONS ARE CHURCH SPONSORED YOUTH GROUPS, DAY CARE CENTERS, PSYCHOLOGISTS AND PSYCHIATRISTS IN PRIVATE PRACTICE, ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, AL-A-TEEN, AL-ANON, AND HEALTH CARE SERVICES. CERTAIN HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS ARE INCLUDED, SUCH AS MENTAL HEALTH CENTERS, VENEREAL DISEASE AND PREGNANCY SERVICE PROGRAMS, AND ALCOHOL/DRUG ABUSE REHABILITATION CENTERS. ONLY LAW ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENTS THAT ADMINISTER POLICE-SCHOOL LIAISON PROGRAMS OR EMPLOY JUVENILE CONTROL OFFICERS ARE INCLUDED. THE INFORMATION IS ORGANIZED ON A COUNTY BASIS WITH THE COUNTIES LISTED ALPHABETICALLY. THE INFORMATION INCLUDES ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER, SERVICE HOURS, PARENTAL PERMISSION, SEX, AGE REQUIREMENTS, FEE STRUCTURE, AND PRIMARY, SECONDARY, AND OTHER SERVICES. AN INDEX TO SPECIAL COUNTY PROGRAMS AND UPDATE/ADDITIONS/CORRECTIONS FORMS ARE INCLUDED.
