Abstract: THEORETICAL ISSUES TREATED CONCERN EVIDENCE WEIGHT AND SUFFICIENCY, ADMISSIBILITY, SELF-INCRIMINATION, DUE PROCESS OF LAW, OBJECTIVES OF LAW AND SCIENCE, AND CONDUCTING SCIENTIFIC TESTS AND EXPERIMENTS WITH NEW SCIENTIFIC TECHNIQUES. SPECIFIC SCIENTIFIC METHODS OF PROOF ARE DOCUMENTED AND DISCUSSED, WITH ATTENTION TO PSYCHIATRY IN THE LAW, ELECTRONIC SPEED DETECTION DEVICES, THE POLYGRAPH, AND NARCOANALYSIS (TRUTH SERUM). BLOOD GROUPING AND INTOXICATION TESTS ARE DESCRIBED WITH CITATIONS FROM CIVIL AND CRIMINAL LAW AND EXPLANATIONS OF ACCEPTABLE METHODS FOR PERFORMING THE TESTS. SUCH PROCESSES AS BALLISTICS, WIRETAPPING, SOUND RECORDING, PHOTOGRAPHY, USING X-RAYS, AND TAKING MOTION PICTURES ARE EXAMINED IN TERMS OF THEIR ADMISSIBILITY, RELIABILITY, AND METHODS. FINGERPRINTING, TYPEWRITER AND HANDWRITING IDENTIFICATION, MAPS, PLATS, DIAGRAMS, AND MODELS AND CASTS ARE THOROUGHLY EXAMINED FOR THEIR VALIDITY AND PURPOSE. MISCELLANEOUS SCIENTIFIC TESTS CONSIDERED INCLUDE ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAMS, ELECTROCARDIOGRAMS, THE NALLINE TEST, AND OTHER MEDICAL TESTS, ALONG WITH FLUOROSCOPY AND HYPNOTIC ANALYSIS. MANY OF THESE SCIENTIFIC TESTS ARE DEALT WITH IN THE CONTEXT OF EXPERTS' TREATMENT OF THEM AND HOW THEY AFFECT SUBJECTS OF EXPERT TESTIMONY.
