Annotation: PRESENTED IN ENGLISH, FRENCH, AND SPANISH, FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL, THIS INTERPOL DOCUMENT DETAILS THE SLIGHTLY UNUSUAL CHEMICALS, MISCELLANEOUS ARTICLES, AND ANY OTHER SUSPICIOUS TRACES WHICH MAY INDICATE THE PRESENCE OF A CLANDESTINE LABORATORY FOR MANUFACTURING DRUGS.
Abstract: THE BROCHURE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS; PHOTOGRAPHS AUGMENT THE TEXT. IN TABULAR FORM, PART I INCLUDES A LIST OF THE VARIOUS INGREDIENTS OR CHEMICAL REAGENTS USED IN MAKING EACH OF THE DRUGS WHICH ARE MOST COMMONLY FOUND ON THE ILLICIT MARKET AND WHICH THE POLICE OFFICER MAY FIND IN A CLANDESTINE WORKSHOP. EACH OF THE CHEMICALS USED IN MAKING UP A PARTICULAR DRUG IS LISTED UNDER ITS SCIENTIFIC NAME, TOGETHER WITH ITS FORMULA; WHEREVER POSSIBLE THE MORE COMMON POPULAR NAME IS ALSO GIVEN. THE DRUGS INCLUDE HEROIN, COCAINE, MESCALINE, LSD, HASHISH, AND AMPHETAMINES, AMONG OTHERS. TO ASSIST IN IDENTIFYING THESE SUBSTANCES, THE TABLES ALSO GIVE THE STATE (SOLID, LIQUID, OR GAS) IN WHICH THE CHEMICAL IS USUALLY FOUND, TOGETHER WITH SOME INFORMATION ABOUT ITS APPEARANCE AND MAIN CHARACTERISTICS. THE SECOND PART OF THE BROCHURE PRESENTS A LIST OF THE EQUIPMENT, EITHER COMMERCIALLY MANUFACTURED OR HOMEMADE, USED BY TRAFFICKERS DURING THE DIFFERENT STAGES (EXTRACTION, PROCESSING, OR MANUFACTURE) OF DRUG COMPOSITION. TO PREVENT THIS SECOND PART FROM BECOMING TOO THEORETICAL, A LARGE NUMBER OF PHOTOGRAPHS ARE INCLUDED, AND THE TEXT IS KEPT AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE.
Index Term(s): Amphetamines; Cocaine; Controlled Substances; Drug law offenses; Drug sources; Hashish; Heroin; International Criminal Police Organization; LSD (acid)
Note: SPANISH VERSION IS INCLUDED. FRENCH VERSION IS INCLUDED.
