Abstract: THROUGH HANDWRITING ANALYSIS, IT IS POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE A PERSON'S POTENTIAL INTEGRITY IN STRESSFUL SITUATIONS AND TO OUTLINE A JOB CANDIDATE'S BASIC CHARACTER TRAITS AND POTENTIAL FOR THE JOBS AVAILABLE. THE STUDY OF HANDWRITING, OR GRAPHOLOGY, IS USED EXTENSIVELY IN EUROPE AS A PERSONNEL SELECTION TECHNIQUE. STRICTLY LICENSED IN EUROPE BY GRAPHOLOGICAL SOCIETIES, THE DISCIPLINE IS CONSIDERED AS VALID A PSYCHODIAGNOSTIC TOOL AS THE RORSCHACH TEST. HOWEVER, IN THE U.S., TOP MANAGEMENT HAS LARGELY IGNORED HANDWRITING ANALYSIS BECAUSE OF MISCONCEPTIONS STEMMING FROM ITS REPUTATION AS A HOBBY. SEVERAL PROFESSIONAL HANDWRITING ANALYSIS APPROACHES ARE DESCRIBED HERE, INCLUDING THE GRAPHOLOGICAL PSYCHOGRAM SYSTEM AND THE EQUAL WEIGHT SCORING CRITERIA PSYCHOGRAPH. BASICALLY, DIAGNOSIS OF A PERSON'S HANDWRITING INVOLVES MEASUREMENT OF EMOTIONAL STABILITY AND MATURITY, INTELLECTUAL MATURITY, AND THE VARIOUS INHIBITIONS THAT CONTROL BASIC IMPULSES. SEVERAL CASES OF THE SUCCESS OF HANDWRITING ANALYSIS IN REVEALING EMPLOYEE THEFT ARE DISCUSSED, AND OTHER POTENTIAL USES OF THIS FORM OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT ARE EXAMINED. DIAGRAMS ARE PROVIDED.
