Annotation: APPENDIXES ARE PROVIDED FOR A COMPREHENSIVE PROFILE OF JOB TASKS AND TRAINING NEEDS FOR AUDITORS AND INVESTIGATORS IN THE FEDERAL OFFICES OF INSPECTOR GENERAL.
Abstract: THESE APPENDIXES ACCOMPANY THE PROFILE REPORT, WHICH WAS PRODUCED BY EXPERIENCED AUDITORS AND INVESTIGATORS FROM MOST OF THE OFFICES OF INSPECTOR GENERAL, FACILITATED BY TRAINING SPECIALISTS FROM THE TRAINING CONSULTING DIVISION, OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT (NCJ 68584). THE STUDY AIMED AT DETERMINING WHAT MUST BE LEARNED TO ENABLE AND AUDITOR/INVESTIGATOR TO PERFORM EFFECTIVELY IN THE INSPECTOR GENERAL FUNCTION, THE CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE WHO SHOULD RECEIVE SUCH KNOWLEDGE, AND THE BEST WAYS FOR TEACHING IT SUCH KNOWLEDGE. THE APPENDIXES INCLUDE SAMPLES OF WORKSHEETS USED IN THE PROJECT, A LISTING OF PRINCIPAL TASKS PERFORMED BY AUDITORS AND INVESTIGATORS, ANALYSIS DATA FOR EACH TASK OF AUDITORS AND INVESTIGATORS, A COMPARISON OF EFFECTIVE AND INEFFECTIVE BEHAVIOR IN VARIOUS TASKS, AND OTHER DOCUMENTS DEVELOPED IN THE PROJECT (EXAMPLE OF A TASK SUMMARY SHOWING INTERRELATIONSHIP OF INVESTIGATORS AND AUDITORS IN A FRAUD INVESTIGATION, INTERVIEWING SITUATIONS, PROFILE OF AUDIT/INVESTIGATIVE REPORT REQUIREMENTS, AND POST-INVESTIGATION DUTIES).
