Abstract: A STATE-OF-THE-ART REVIEW OF CONTEMPORARY CRIMINOLOGICAL THEORIES, INCLUDING THE MOST RADICAL AND RELATIVISTIC REVEALS THEM ALL TO BE UNSATISFACTORY. EVEN THE INTERACTIONIST SCHOOL OF CRIMINOLOGY IS INADEQUATE, BECAUSE, LIKE ALL THE OTHERS, IT POSTULATES THE OBJECTIVE EXISTENCE OF DEVIANT INDIVIDUALS, THEREBY IMPLYING SOME VALIDITY IN THE NORMS FROM WHICH THEY ALLEGEDLY DEVIATE, AS WELL AS ADMITTING, AGAIN BY IMPLICATION, THAT THESE PEOPLE, NO MATTER HOW SYMPATHETICALLY PORTRAYED, ARE REALLY DIFFERENT FROM THE REST OF SOCIETY. ALL CRIMINOLOGICAL THEORIES ARE INADEQUATE, BECAUSE THEY FOCUS ON SOCALLED DEVIANTS AND THE PROBLEMS THEY CAUSE TO THEMSELVES AND OTHERS, AND TO SOCIETY AS A WHOLE. CRIMINOLOGISTS AND SOCIOLOGISTS SHOULD FOCUS, INSTEAD, ON THE INADEQUACIES AND EVILS OF SOCIAL SYSTEMS WHICH CAUSE INDIVIDUALS TO ACT IN CERTAIN WAYS. MOREOVER, THE INTERACTIONIST SCHOOL OF CRIMINOLOGY HAS SERIOUS SHORTCOMINGS, INCLUDING THE IDEA THAT THERE ARE DEVIANT INDIVIDUALS WHO MUST BE HUMANIZED AND NORMALIZED; THE FASCINATION WITH SENSATIONAL FORMS OF SOCALLED DEVIANCE (E.G., MURDERS AND VIOLENT ACTS); THE LACK OF AWARENESS OF SUCH CONDUCT AS WHITE-COLLAR CRIME AND INSTITUTIONALIZED VIOLENCE; AND THE LACK OF INTEREST IN THE DICHOTOMY OF POWER AND POWERLESSNESS, WHICH LIES AT THE CORE OF THE MANIFESTATIONS CALLED DEVIANCE. ABOUT 35 REFERENCES ARE APPENDED. --IN SPANISH.
