Annotation: THIS STATISTICAL REPORT WAS COMPILED PRIMARILY FROM DATA ON INMATES CONFINED WITHIN THE KANSAS CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM ON JUNE 30 FOR THE YEARS 1977, 1978, AND 1979, EXCLUDING THOSE ON WORK-RELEASE OR THOSE SERVING IN ABSENTIA.
Abstract: THE GENERAL MANAGEMENT DATA GIVES OPERATING COSTS, OPERATING COSTS PER CAPITA, INMATE-TO-STAFF RATIO, POPULATION CHANGES BY INSTITUTION, ADMISSIONS DATA, AND PROBATION AND PAROLE DATA. THE SECTION ON INMATE CHARACTERISTICS ANALYZES CRIMINAL HISTORIES, INMATE AGES, COUNTY OF CONVICTION, FELONY CLASS, AND OTHER DEMOGRAPHIC STATISTICS. A FINAL SECTION GIVES DATA ON CELL CAPACITY FOR VARIOUS INSTITUTIONS. A BRIEF NARRATIVE EXPLAINS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.
