Annotation: The 1979 annual report sumarizes the activities and accomplishments of the Division of Police, Springfield, Ohio, and presents charts, graphs, and tables of pertinent information.
Abstract: Annual police data show that index crime was up 3 percent from 1978, with a total of 4,734 of these offenses; the clearance rate was 45.3 percent as compared to 38.5 percent in 1978. Juvenile arrests for Part I crimes decreased 10 percent, but total juvenile arrests increased 6 percent. Motor vehicle fatalities decreased from six to four, and the number of motor vehicle accidents decreased likewise. Major accomplishments of the division included planning and building of the new safety building, continuation of the Cadet Program, and a program to teach safety to preschoolers. Other highlights, organizational charts, graphs, charts, tables and pictures are included.
