A procedural checklist for contested cases and a list of apparent petty offenses are also included. In the criminal procedures section, individual chapters focus on arrests, initial appearances, bail, preliminary hearings, arraignments, and search warrants. Some chapters provide definitions, sample dialogues, and procedures checklists. The small claims and miscellaneous procedures section includes chapters on small claims, solemnizing marriages, and paternity proceedings. Other chapters discuss the magistrate as coroner, oaths and acknowledgements, subpoenas and the attendance of witnesses, and the taking of dispositions.
