Abstract: |
In order to maintain a professional appearance, security personnel are advised to wear neat, full uniforms at all times. Their duties require constant alertness, for they are responsible for the protection and well-being of patients and employees, and for the security of the hospital's property. They must assist those who have business with the hospital and keep out those who are not authorized to enter. They must inspect the building for safety hazards, control parking and traffic in front of the building, drive the security patrol vehicle, operate internal radio communications equipment, and be familiar with all parts of the hospital. Security officers who are going off duty must pass on their orders, keys, and equipment to their relief personnel. Unsafe practices such as fighting, horseplay, and gambling should be avoided; and smoking, listening to the radio, or reading should not be engaged in. Special duties of personnel assigned to the outpatient waiting room and the emergency room areas are discussed. Time-clock procedures and the use of package passes and identification badges are explained. Color slides illustrate the points which are reviewed. No other supplementary materials are provided. |
