Annotation: Stores' apprehension reports are the basis for these shoplifting statistics. Tables concern shoplifting losses, value of merchandise recovered, adult and juvenile shoplifters referred to the police, and concealment methods.
Abstract: The report includes a formula for retailers to estimate shoplifting losses and data on shoplifters' sex and the time of day apprehension occurred. Supermarket shoplifting data from 1970-71 are appended.
