Annotation: This Illinois Department of Corrections is facing a continuing crisis of prison population. In response to this crisis, the Department is trying to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its programs and to do more monitoring of existing programs through internal audits and formal evaluation and research.
Abstract: Narrative, figures, and tables detail the accomplishments, specific problems, goals, and objectives of adult institutions and centers, community supervision, and juvenile institutions and services. An appendix analyzes trends in the criminal justice system.
