Annotation: This discussion of Norwegian criminological contributions examines the literature from scholars who publish for domestic consumption, scholars who prepare articles and books for publication outside the country, and foreigners who publish materials on criminological subjects pertaining to Norway.
Abstract: The Institute for Criminology and Criminal Law at the University of Oslo has conducted research directed mainly for domestic consumption. The institute reflects the traditional European pattern of identifying criminology with the study of law. The dissemination of the findings of Norwegian criminology through international forums has bestowed international esteem on a number of Norwegian criminologists. Norwegian criminologists have been especially interested in identifying social problems, such as alcoholism, that are having an impact on Norwegian society. Sixty-one notes and 37 annotated bibliographic entries are provided.
Index Term(s): Criminology; Norway
