Annotation: This packet of publications includes information about child sexual abuse; lists of indicators; guidelines for prevention; curriculum evaluation factors; resources; and special programs for parents, children, and educators.
Abstract: Pamphlets for preventing parent burnout, announcements for new films about the abused child, and posters for children about secret touching and whom to tell about sexual abuse are included in the packet. The Coalition for Child Advocacy, a private nonprofit organization whose purpose is the prevention of child abuse and neglect, provides speakers to clubs, church groups and schools and inservice training on child abuse to professionals. In addition, the SOAP Box Players, a group of 10 volunteer actors, demonstrate through theater to parents and teachers how to provide children with the skills to prevent sexual abuse. The coalition serves as a resource center as well, loaning films, books and articles on child abuse and neglect issues, as well as directories on parenting classes, day care, and summer youth activities. Recommendations for teaching child abuse indicators to children are included.
