  Annotation: This fact sheet from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention presents data on the number of delinquency cases waived to criminal court in 2008.
  Abstract: Highlights from this fact sheet regarding the number of delinquency cases waived to criminal court in 2008 include the following: of the 1.7 million delinquency cases handled during the year, approximately 1 percent of the cases that were petitioned were judicially waved to criminal court, representing a decrease of 35 percent from the number of cases waived in 1994 but an increase of 13 percent from the number of cases waived in 2001; the largest increase in waived cases was for person offense cases, which increased 35 percent since 2001; the number of cases waived to criminal court for drug offenses, property offenses, and public order offenses has decreased substantially since 1993; between 1985 and 2008, the majority of waived cases involved males, age 16 or older; and between 1985 and 1992, property offense cases made up the largest share of the waived cases, while from 1993 on, person offense cases accounted for the largest proportion of cases waived to criminal court.
