Are resources available to assist child abduction victims and their families?
Resources to assist child abduction victims and their families are available on the
Missing and Exploited Children
section of the
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
website.
Also, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children was established in 1984 to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation, find missing children, and assist victims and their families. See the
NCMEC site
or call 800-THE-LOST (800-843-5678) for assistance.
Additionally, the
National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
is a clearinghouse for missing persons and unidentified decedent records. NamUs is a free online system that can be searched by medical examiners, coroners, law enforcement officials and the general public to solve these cases. To enter a missing persons report into the NamUs database, visit the
registration page
.
