Abstract
The court has been totally automated since the end of 1994. The computerized case processing system, SUSTAIN, has a $2.3 million budget for personnel, computer hardware and software, training and maintenance. The courts also use two automated information systems that have been combined with SUSTAIN to form COURTNET, a single source of comprehensive data for the Court of Justice. Other accomplishments have included concerted efforts related to domestic assault, the use of a teen court as a diversion program for first-time juvenile offenders, other law-related education programs, and a pilot of regional training programs for new volunteers for the Foster Care Review Board. Further achievements were the receipt of a Federal grant to implement the Kentucky Court Improvement Project, the establishment of statewide rules for the appointment and qualification of court interpreters. Final judgments were entered in 730,570 district court cases and 78,816 circuit court cases. The Kentucky Supreme Court entered 1,080 final decisions; the Court of Appeals entered 3,319 final decisions. Figures
