This report presents selected findings on the provision of health care services in U.S. State prisons, based on data from the National Survey of Prison Health Care (NSPHC).
Abstract

Presents findings on health care services in U.S. state prisons, including the number of participating states that provided health services to prisoners by type of service. The report details the percentage of prison admissions in states that conducted tests or screeners during the admissions process. It describes whether health care services were delivered on-site, off-site, or both. Additionally, the report presents data on the use of telemedicine to provide certain health care services to prisoners. Findings are based on the 2011 National Survey of Prison Health Care, which was developed and conducted by the Bureau of Justice Statistics and the National Center for Health Statistics.
