This fact sheet summarizes information on the "Tribal Justice System Infrastructure Program" (TJSIP), which is the fourth of nine "Purpose Areas" for grant funding related to Tribal justice issues under the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ's) Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation (CTAS) initiative, which unifies all Tribal justice DOJ grants under these nine Purpose Areas.

Abstract

The overall objective of the Purpose Area #4 TJSIP is to assist tribes in developing effective strategies for the cost-effective renovation and/or expansion of existing facilities for the incarceration and rehabilitation of juvenile and adult offenders subject to Tribal jurisdiction. A DOJ-funded agency provides training and technical assistance for Purpose Area #4 grant recipients that includes on-site, telephone, and webinar contacts. A chart shows the number and funding amount of TJSIP-related DOJ grants for each of the fiscal years 2011-2017. This fact sheet provides an overview of each of the following DOJ agencies that provide resources to tribes through CTAS: the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Office on Violence Against Women, the Office for Victims of Crime, and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
