AN OVERALL VIEW OF EXISTING TRAINING AND FUTURE NEEDS, PLUS TRAINING POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PERSONNEL IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: POLICE, COURTS, PROSECUTION, PUBLIC DEFENDER, ADULT CORRECTIONS, AND JUVENILE DELINQUENCY.
Abstract
BASED ON DATA ON THE EXISTING TRAINING STATUS AND RESOURCES, A TRAINING NEEDS MATRIX IS COMPILED IDENTIFYING THOSE PROBLEM AREAS PARTICULAR TO INDIVIDUAL FUNCTIONAL AREAS AND THOSE WHICH ARE PROBLEMS THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. GUIDELINES FOR STATE TRAINING ACTION ARE GROUPED INTO NINE CATEGORIES - POLICY STANDARD SETTING, DELIVERY SYSTEMS, EVALUATION AND MONITORING, MULTIFUNCTIONAL TRAINING, FACILITIES AND SHARING OF RESOURCES, COST SHARING, SPECIFIC INTERIM TRAINING GOALS, CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT, AND OTHER ISSUES (IMPLEMENTATION AND FUNDING REQUIREMENTS).
