THIS REPORT, DATED APRIL 1974, DOCUMENTS A METHOD TO DEVELOP A STATISTICAL REPORTING SYSTEM FOR THE VIRGINIA GENERAL DISTRICT COURTS WHICH HAVE LIMITED AND SPECIAL JURISDICTION.
Abstract
TO ADMINISTER THE STATEWIDE GENERAL DISTRICT COURT SYSTEM CREATED IN JULY 1973, A UNIFORM METHOD OF COURT STATISTICAL REPORTING WAS FOUND TO BE NEEDED. THE STATE COURTS REPLACED LOCAL DISTRICT COURTS AND HAVE JURISDICTION IN JUVENILE AND DOMESTIC RELATIONS AND MINOR MATTERS. RECOMMENDATIONS TO DEVELOP THE STATISTICAL REPORTING SYSTEM INCLUDE THE DESIGN OF A UNIFORM DOCKETING SYSTEM AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW STATISTICAL SYSTEM IN TWO PHASES TO ALLOW TIME FOR ASSIMILATION AND REFINEMENT. A RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE TO REQUEST AND RECEIVE PROPOSALS FOR BIDS ON THE NEW SYSTEM IS ALSO INCLUDED....TWH
