THIS STUDY IS A DESCRIPTIVE AND EVALUATIVE ASSESSMENT OF FOUR JUVENILE ATTENDANCE CENTER PROGRAMS IN THE PROVINCE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA.
Abstract
THE REPORT BEGINS WITH AN EXAMINATION OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN EVALUATION RESEARCH AND YOUTH ATTENDANCE CENTERS AND A LISTING OF THE PROGRAMS WHICH ARE REVIEWED. CHAPTER TWO IDENTIFIES THE RESEARCH DESIGN, STUDY POPULATION, DATA COLLECTION INSTRUMENTS, DATA COLLECTION PROCESS, AND EVALUATION OBSTACLES WHICH WERE MET DURING THE COURSE OF THE INVESTIGATION. THE NEXT CHAPTER IS CONCERNED WITH A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAMS: BACKGROUND AND DEVELOPMENT, STRUCTURE, GOALS, SOURCES AND METHODS OF REFERRAL, AND PARTICIPANT EVALUATION AND TERMINATION. THEN, THERE IS A REPORT ON DATA ANALYSIS AND RESULTS. CHAPTER FIVE PRESENTS A THEORETIC FRAMEWORK FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A YOUTH ATTENDANCE CENTER PROGRAM IN BOTH AN URBAN AND RURAL MILIEU. THE CONCLUDING CHAPTER PRESENTS TEN RECOMMENDATIONS WHICH MAY AFFECT THE ESTABLISHMENT OR ON-GOING DEVELOPMENT OF YOUTH ATTENDANCE CENTER PROGRAMS IN THEIR EFFORTS TO CURTAIL PROBLEMS OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY.
