Abstract: While States that have incident-based crime reporting can generate statistics upon request, emphasis is placed in the report on the production of formal publications such as annual reports and on special reports and Internet capabilities. From among those reviewed, 14 States include basic incident-based crime data in their most recently available annual reports, commonly incident-based tables focused on index crimes including murder, forcible rape, aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft. Several States have Internet sites that include State-level crime statistics. Other States are developing or enhancing their Internet sites. Incident-based crime reporting projects funded by the Bureau of Justice Statistics are noted, and data on the use and dissemination of incident-based crime statistics among selected States are tabulated. 24 references, 3 tables, and 3 figures
