Annotation: This paper examines data from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) and the FBI's Supplementary Homicide Reports on trends in violent crime by age in the United States.
Abstract: Murder and nonfatal violent crimes, as an aggregate, are examined separately. Although violent crime in general declined during 1976-2000, patterns for different age groups sometimes depart from overall trends. This report is one of a series on age patterns and criminal victimization. Previous reports include "Age Patterns of Victims of Serious Violent Crime" and "Crimes Against Persons Age 65 or Older."
