Abstract: In 1984 the U.S. Congress passed the Victims of Crime Act which established the Crime Victims Fund. The purpose of the Fund, administered by the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), is to provide stable funding for victim assistance programs and change the criminal justice system’s response to crime victims. This report presents information on expenditures by the Fund for fiscal years (FYs) 2011 and 2012. The victim assistance programs that received funding in FY 2011 and 2012 covered a broad range of areas: domestic violence, sexual assault, child and youth victimization, identity theft and financial fraud, human trafficking, terrorism and mass violence, crime victims from tribal communities, and crimes against members of special populations such as persons with disabilities. The Fund also provides assistance to training and technical assistance programs for victim service providers. This online document highlights the programs in these broad areas that received assistance from the Fund for FYs 2011 and 2012.
