- Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS): Corrections
- This section of the BJS website contains information, statistics, and publications about jails, prisons, and probation and parole, including data on violence in facilities.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP): Prison Safety
- BOP has created graphs which show the number of assaults on inmates and on staff that occur per 5,000 inmates (or the "rate of assaults") over time. The data used in the graphs come from the Chronological Disciplinary Records and include serious assaults (Prohibited Act 101 that involve serious physical injury or threat of serious injury) and less serious assaults (Prohibited Act 224).
- National Institute of Corrections (NIC)
- NIC provides training, technical assistance, information services, and policy/program development assistance to federal, state, and local corrections agencies. The NIC Library has additional resources on violence in corrections.
- National PREA Resource Center (PRC)
- With funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), PRC serves as a national resource for online and direct support, training and technical assistance, and research to assist adult and juvenile corrections, tribal detention, and law enforcement professionals in their ongoing work for establishing zero-tolerance and the elimination of sexual assault, victimization, and staff sexual misconduct in confinement environments. PRC assists the field with better identifying and promulgating best and promising practices and assisting correctional agencies in the implementation of the National Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Standards.
