Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden; Attorney General Eric Holder; Deputy Attorney General James Cole; Deputy Associate Attorney General Karol Mason; General Raymond T. Odierno, Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army; and Congressmen Bobby Scott (D-VA) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) were among the many dignitaries who attended OJJDP's National Conference on October 12–14, 2011. The conference drew more than 2,300 public officials, tribal representatives, juvenile justice practitioners, policymakers, law enforcement professionals, child advocates, educators, and researchers to address key issues in the juvenile justice field. "Unite, Build, Lead" was the first conference OJJDP has held since 2006.
