2007 CCDO National Conference
On August 20–23, 2007, in Detroit, Michigan, the Community Capacity Development Office will sponsor its 2007 national conference. This year’s theme is “Promoting Unity in Each Community.” Communities from across the country will celebrate accomplishments in crime control and reduction, build on community partnerships, learn new skills, and share information to help meet the challenges of the future.
Training opportunities for victim service providers
The Office for Victims of Crime is offering a series of training workshops (beginning in September 2007) to enhance the capacity of service providers to serve crime victims and increase their professional skills. The newest workshop, Responding to School Violence, will be offered October 23–24, 2007, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Visit the OVC TTAC Web site for more information or to register.
Calendar of events for victim service providers
Introduced by the Office for Victims of Crime in January 2006, the National Calendar of Events integrates information on conferences, trainings, and other victim assistance-related events. It was designed to help victims, victim service providers, allied professionals, and other interested individuals plan, promote, and locate events in their area.
Web Forum is a valuable online tool
The Office for Victims of Crime’s HELP for Victim Service Providers Web Forum is an online tool that allows participants to tap into a national network of people with various backgrounds who may face similar challenges and experiences. Each month, as part of the Web Forum’s Guest Host Series, national experts host online discussions on topics of interest to the victim services community.
