Federal laws that address campus crime and victimization. (22.4-2 to 22.4- 6) 2. Barriers to reporting campus crime, and recommended solutions to overcome such barriers. (22.4-7 to 22.4-9) 3. Components of comprehensive victim services for campus crime victim assistance. (22.4-9 to 22.4-15) Objectives: 1. Increase awareness of the extent of campus crime victimization and the obstacles that prevent students from reporting these crimes. 2. Promote discussion regarding potential services available to victims of campus crime and ways in which victim service providers can help make these services more accessible to victims. Description of Activity and Faculty Guidelines: The instructor divides students into groups of ten and distributes the worksheets. A volunteer in each group will read the case scenario out loud, and serve as the facilitator to process: o Three reasons why Janet did not disclose her victimization to her roommate. o Three types of programs or services that might encourage Janet to disclose her victimization to her friend, as well as to law enforcement, and to seek assistance. The instructor will facilitate "round robin" responses from each group (with one response from each group to each of the two questions) for the full group.
