Anti-terrorism legislation in the United States and around the world. (22.9-5 to 22.9-7) 2. Services available through the anti-terrorism victim assistance programs at the Office for Victims of Crime, U.S. Department of Justice. (22.9-8 to 22.9- 9) 3. Impact of terrorism on individuals, communities, and nations. (22.9-13 to 22.9-17) Objectives: 1. Identify key public and private sector agencies and organizations that should collaborate to develop a domestic terrorism community-wide preparation and crisis response plan. 2. Describe the key role of each agency and organization identified as potential collaborators. Description of Activity and Faculty Guidelines: The NVAA chapter cites numerous public and private entities that have been involved in developing a domestic terrorism community-wide preparation and crisis response plan. Many communities and regions have begun developing plans for implementation of community crisis responses. The instructor will divide students into groups of 10 and distribute the student worksheets. Each group is assigned to brainstorm the key public (i.e., governmental agencies) and private sector (i.e., nonprofit organizations, volunteers, etc.) agencies/organizations, their respective roles in preparing for and responding to domestic terrorism in their community, and whether they provide victim assistance services to victims in the short-term, long-term, or not at all. Students should also be asked to share any experiences they may have had in preparing for or responding to community crisis resulting from domestic terrorism. The instructor can facilitate group reports to the large group.
