This section of the BJA Center for Program Evaluation and Performance Management site provides information on different approaches to effective assessment, treatment, and management of sex offenders.

Center for Sex Offender Management (CSOM)
Sponsored by the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), the goal of CSOM is to improve the management of adult and juvenile sex offenders in the community.

National Institute of Corrections (NIC)
NIC provides training, technical assistance, information services, and policy/program development assistance to Federal, state, and local corrections agencies. NIC also provides information related to sex offenders via their Online Library.

National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC): FieldSearch
FieldSearch is designed to search an offender's computer and create a detailed report of their findings. This software can provide valuable information to community corrections personnel regarding the offender's sexual interest and intensity and can help agencies effectively manage offender computer usage.

Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) Office
The responsibilities of the SMART Office include providing states with guidance regarding the implementation of the Adam Walsh Act, and providing technical assistance to the states, territories, Indian tribes, local governments, and to public and private organizations. The SMART Office also develops the SMART Watch Newsletter, which highlights activities, resources, funding opportunities, and upcoming events related to sex offenders.
