Improving Responses to People with Mental Illnesses: Tailoring Law Enforcement Initiatives to Individual Jurisdictions
This Bureau of Justice Assistance sponsored publication explores the program design process for a variety of Specialized Policing Response (SPR) models--including crisis intervention teams, law enforcement/mental health co-response teams, and case management approaches--that take into account such factors as jurisdiction size, demographics, mental health and law enforcement agency resources, and relevant state laws. Girls' Delinquency Fact Sheet Now Available
This Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) fact sheet examines rising trends in girls’ delinquency in the 1990s. To address this need and provide comprehensive information on female delinquency, OJJDP created its Girls Study Group in 2004. This OJJDP Fact Sheet assesses trends of girls' delinquency and whether girls were becoming more violent or if other factors contributed to their higher arrest rates. (NCJ 228414)

Apply for Victim Assistance Fellowship
The Office for Victims of Crime is accepting applications for its Victim Assistance Professional Development Fellowship Program. Successful applicants will support outreach activities in one of the following categories: victim assistance and compensation; tribal communities; underserved crime victims; evidence-based training and technical assistance; federal and military victim assistance; and financial fraud and non-violent crime. Applications are due April 27, 2010.

Criminal Victimization in the United States, 2007 -- Statistical Tables
The Bureau of Justice Statistics released statistical tables that present detailed data on major variables measured by the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS).  (NCJ 227669)

Share Your Justice Assistance Grant Success Stories
The Bureau of Justice Assistance has launched a new Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Success Web page. The JAG Success effort was designed to identify and highlight subgrantee and/or statewide projects that have demonstrated success or have shown promise in meeting the objectives and goals of JAG while positively impacting communities. Submit your story.

Funding Available to Enhance Mentoring Programs
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention invites public agencies, private organizations, and institutions of higher education to apply under its fiscal year (FY) 2010 Strategic Enhancement to Mentoring Programs. The solicitation requests proposals for evidence-based enhancements that are among these moderators of program effectiveness. The application deadline is April 14, 2010.

Training Providers Sought for National Task Force
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention seeks to identify training providers for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force National Training Program. Successful applicants will help state and local law enforcement agencies develop effective responses to online enticement of children by sexual predators, child exploitation, and child obscenity and pornography cases. The application deadline is April 8, 2010.

Helping Coalitions Keep Communities Drug Free
The 2010 Drug Free Communities (DFC) Mentoring Program request for applications process is now open. The DFC Mentoring Program is designed to provide funding to existing grantees so they can serve as mentors to newly formed or developing coalitions that have never received a DFC grant. About $1.1 million is available for an estimated 15 new mentoring grants. The application deadline is April 23, 2010.
