Abstract
Search warrant procedures cover who may issue a warrant, the warrant application, the search warrant itself, execution of the warrant, the handling of items seized, and recent court developments vis-a-vis search warrants. Report writing procedures encompass report types and styles, requisites of a good report, steps in report writing, writing descriptions, and report reviews. Crime prevention guidelines address the overall crime prevention program and focus on avoidance of street attacks, residential security, business security, and the operation identification program. The section on the development of information sources covers the use and management of informers. Suspect interrogation techniques and types of confessions are followed by guidelines for interviewing witnesses, with particular attention to the interviewing of child and elderly victims and witnesses. The discussion of crime scene processing specifies procedures for various crime types. The manual concludes with discussions of time management in criminal investigations and accusatory instruments. Appropriate attachments accompany each section of the manual.
