Over the last several years, research into law enforcement stress has dramatically underscored the problems experienced by police officers throughout this country, and significant effort has been devoted to programs of stress awareness, identification, and management.
Abstract
To have the greatest impact, the implementation of stress management efforts must be part of an integrated program of psychological services within a department. In addition to the professional considerations normally associated with such services, there are a number of management issues which must be analyzed and successfully resolved to increase and assure program effectiveness. Law enforcement administrators play a critical role in maintaining the highest quality programs, which officers demand and communities deserve. (Publisher abstract)
