Other articles examine female homicide and criminality in Imperial Germany (1873-1914), penal reform in Pennsylvania between 1920 and 1950, and research and historical analyses of prostitution. Books reviewed include historical examinations of the French, British, Canadian, and United States criminal justice systems. Also examined are theories about criminality, reforms in juvenile justice, the use of corporal punishment, and caring for the mentally retarded in American institutional systems. Texts on violence in the American West and the history of tramps between 1790 and 1935 also are reviewed.
