This article deals mainly with the existing pattern of organization and functions of the Jail Department in Orissa, India.
Abstract
Prison administration in Orissa suffers from a number of structural and functional maladies. For the eradication of such maladies some remedies are suggested. A separate cadre of prison officials, selection of the Inspector General of Prisons from the jail department, establishment of a Prison Research Bureau, are the possible solutions to meet the present crisis of prison administration in Orissa.
