Annotation
Though women represent almost half of the Indian adult population, mercifully, they are still remarkably underrepresented in criminal statistics. However, because of their smallness of numbers, women going through the criminal justice system are being 'doubly penalized.'
Abstract
Besides ignoring their distinctive difficulties, they are even starved of most of the programs and services which are normally available to their male counterparts in prisons. This paper attempts to highlight some of the issues and calls for urgent remedial action. (Author abstract)
