This packet of materials on the Neighborhood Watch Program includes materials produced for citizen use by the Northumbria Police in Ponteland, England, and the text of a presentation for a national conference on Neighborhood Watch held in December 1986.
Abstract
The citizen materials include guidelines on residential and personal security, information for people serving as liaisons between citizens and the police, a decal, a questionnaire, and a newsletter. A lock company's brochures on door and window locks and a home security survey are also included. The first issue of a national magazine called 'Good Neighbour' is also included. The conference presentation notes that 17,500 Neighborhood Watch programs are now in operation and describes how the program fits with the government's crime prevention efforts. It also notes the crucial role of cooperative efforts within a community and the importance of the program coordinator.
