Abstract
Reasons why coaches should be involved in a drug abuse prevention program are outlined. The booklet discusses athletes' use of alcohol and other drugs and provides statistics on alcohol and marijuana consumption. The harmful effects of alcohol, marijuana, stimulants, hallucinogens, and other drugs are highlighted. Specific steps that coaches can take to combat abuse are detailed. Sources of additional information are included.
