This report presents statistics on felons and civilly committed narcotic addicts under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Corrections for 1983, 1984, and 1985.
Abstract
The opening chapter summarizes data on the total institutional population, admissions, and releases. Chapters on felons only address new admissions; inmate characteristics; parolee characteristics; parole suspensions, reinstatements, and returns to prison; parole discharges; and felons in community-based programs. Data on both felons and civil narcotic addicts address their behavior in institutions (incidents, escapes, and time credits lost) and parole and outpatient population movement. Data on civilly committed narcotic addicts only cover new commitments, the number in an institutional program, the number released, and the number of outpatients. 124 tables and 26 charts.
