The instrument consists of 12 behavioral scales reflecting such dimensions as humanism, competence, achievement, self-actualizing, conventional, and affirmative. Results indicate that both supervisory and midlevel managers were oppositional and dependent as their primary lifestyle choices, with midlevel managers being more oppositional than supervisory ones. The secondary lifestyle approach of both groups was humanistic and self-actualizing, with supervisory personnel scoring higher. Both groups scored higher on all of these dimensions than did managers in other occupations. The strong duality between the oppositional and humanistic orientations of these individuals have implications for role ambiguity and role conflict. 3 figures and 15 references.
