Immunization guidelines for agencies rendering prehospital care are recommended, and safety and decontamination procedures are described for use when providing care to patients with potentially communicable diseases or when there may be an exposure to blood, body fluids, or excreta. Decontamination procedures cover equipment, clothing, and supplies. The procedure to be followed in the event of exposure to a suspected infectious disease also is outlined.
