Pointing out that alcohol is the 'most abused drug' in the world, this film shows why and how it affects drinkers and advises potential drinkers on when to stop.
Abstract
Beginning with an explanation of how various factors influence alcohol's effects on the body, the film explains the meaning of 'proof,' the dangers of mixing alcohol with pills, and the nature of alcoholism, its symptoms, and effects. Brief case histories illustrate typical reasons people drink alcoholic beverages. After reviewing the national problem of drinking and driving, the film concludes with the portrayal of the drunk-driving arrest of a teenager. The film emphasizes the importance of self-control in the consumption of a dangerous substance. A teacher's study guide is available in both English and Spanish. (Publisher abstract modified)
