Papers focus on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) as it affects the employee, the workforce and the employer.
Abstract
Four brief overviews addressed the potential impact on employers; the medical/scientific background as it is known; the health and support services needed by AIDS victims and their costs; and the legal and regulatory constraints that may shape proposed solutions. Workshop discussions explored the handling of a group of prototypical cases based on a much larger series of real cases brought to the attention of the panel of experts. It is recommended that the employer be alert to the ethical, moral, scientific, social, economic, legal and political issues that AIDS presents, as well as the ramifications which have not yet surfaced. List of AIDS acronyms, 26 references, sample company policies, list of AIDS resources, and recommendations for prevention.
