In this approach, the internship is divided into the following six stages: (1) preparation stage, (2) orientation stage, (3) tentative stage, (4) active stage, (5) termination stage, and (6) followup stage. A list of 5 to 10 suggested student activities is provided under each of the stages. It is suggested that the university internship coordinator can tailor a specific internship program for each of his/her interns by helping the student select those activities that best reflect his/her particular interests and needs.
